Ozone has been heavily studied and utilized in medical therapy for nearly a century. In fact, it was used during WWI to treat infected wounds. This led to the discovery that ozone can reduce inflammation and have profound hemodynamic effects on blood flow.
The main cause of aging and the diseases of aging is decreased oxygen utilization; ozone properly applied can correct this. It does this by increasing antioxidant buffering enzymes. The result is increased oxygen utilization and ATP production along with decreased free radical formation thereby allowing the body to heal itself.
The beauty of ozone therapy is that it is non-specific. It works with the body’s complex systems to affect many biochemical and physiologic processes. The following is only a partial list of diseases that may benefit from medically directed ozone:
Medical ozone is administered in several ways in our clinic. Major autohemotherapy is where blood is removed combined with ozone and re-infused. We commonly combine this procedure with Biophotonic (ultra violet) light therapy. It can also be safely insufflated into the rectal and vaginal cavities as well as the nose and ears. These procedures must be done under the direction of a physician properly trained in medical ozone.
We also offer limb bagging where an affected limb with a poorly healing or infected wound is saturated with ozone for about 20-30 minutes. We have seen dramatic results with this technique.
